There are a variety of gloves out there to fit your particular needs. In my line of work we need to wear nomex or some sort of fire retardant clothing and PPE at all times when outside the wire. There are a lot of gloves which have that capability but I have found that only these fit well enough to give me dexterity without being so tight that they cut off blood flow or hurt the fingers. Comfortable and rather cool as well. The knuckle pads are soft but since they're not pre-molded there is no chance of them NOT fitting your hand, like the Oakley ones do to me. What can I say? I have meat hooks for hands! hehe
Yes, they are a bit expensive but they work great. My only recommendation is that you don't use them for rough work. The stitching and nomex will wear out rather quickly if you're constantly handling sharp or rough objects. Since fire retardant gloves are not usually needed when on foot I would try to reserve these for when in a vehicle. Doing so will make this expenditure a good investment which should last you at least a full year if not more.
